Winter Skin Care Tips to Keep Dryness Away

Winter is very brutal on the skin. With both outside and inside air so harshly cold and dry, it takes all moisture from the skin, leaving it feeling dry, tingly, or sometimes even flaky. Hence, it is very significant to keep the skin healthy and hydrated throughout the winter.

1. Use a Hydrating Cleanser instead

Your normal cleanser would work perfectly during warm months, but something softer, more hydrating during winter, would be preferable. Harsh cleansers tend to strip natural oils from your skin and make it drier. Do not choose sulphate-based cleansers; instead, go for something nourishing that contains glycerine or ceramides.

2. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

The key to winter skin care is an excellent moisturizer. Thick, rich cream or lotion is generally best for sealing in moisture. Some great ingredients that keep skin soft and supple are hyaluronic acid, shea butter, and natural oils.

3. Don’t Skip Sunscreen

Summer isn’t the only time sunscreen is important-it’s just as necessary in the winter. Many harmful UV rays seep through clouds and bounce off the snow surface straight into your skin. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen, minimum SPF 30, to protect your skin from sun damage all year round.

4. Use a Humidifier

Heating systems inside houses take moisture from that air, rendering dry skin and an uncomfortable feeling. A humidifier will return moisture to the air and thus help keep your skin beautiful and hydrated. Place one in your bedroom or office to create a skin-friendly atmosphere.

5. Stay Hydrated from the Inside

It would probably not sound very appealing to drink water in the winter as it does in summer, but it is a major hydration step to healthy skin. Being hydrated at all times makes your skin look naturally fuller and more radiant. Drinking warm beverages, such as herbal teas, would perhaps comfort your thirst from the cold.

6. Add a Facial Oil to Your Routine

Facial oiling can do a miracle in skin care during winter. They act as a layer of nourishing sealant for moisture from oils like rosehip, argan and jojoba, which are very lightweight but give such deep hydrating quality to be used for the entire body.

7. Exfoliate Gently

It is well known that exfoliation is vital in removing dead skin cells, but its overindulgence worsens the already drying effect in winter. A gentle exfoliant should be used one to two times every week to smooth skin without stripping its natural oils. For this reason, such products should contain mild exfoliants such as lactic acid or fruit enzymes.

8. Shield the Lips

Chapped lips top the list of common winter skin problems. They can be kept soft and hydrated by using a rich, nourishing lip balm with ingredients like beeswax, shea butter, or lanolin, applying it often throughout the day, particularly before venturing outdoors.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to suffer with dry, flaky skin just because it’s winter. Following these guidelines and utilizing quality products like Eminence Organic Skin Care will keep your skin hydrated, healthy, and glowing throughout the season.
